Thank You to GRHS

On September 8, 2016, the Germans from Russia Settlement Locations project was presented for the first time at the Germans from Russia Heritage Society's 46th Annual International Convention in Rapid City, SD.

Dennis Bender and Melvin Bender presented "Locating your Ancestral Villages on Google Maps: Germans from Russia Settlement Location Project" to an audience of about 75 at the Ramkota Inn.  The presentation included an overview of the project, how and why it got started, how far it's come, a demonstration of how villages are found and a tour of the Google map pinpointing over 1,500 villages found so far.

We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to GRHS for noticing the significance of our project, embracing it and inviting us to speak at their 2016 convention.  Special thanks to Eric Schmaltz, Don Ehreth, Milt Kramer, Ken Voegle, Sundae Orwick, David Feist and Valerie Renner Ingram Stewart for all of your efforts with getting our project noticed within GRHS.
